Alabama coach Nick Saban took a lot of heat for an incident that occurred on the sidelines with backup quarterback QB A.J. McCarron during the Tide’s 30-10 victory over Mississippi State last week.
A video of Saban having an animated discussion with his player and then spanking him hard on his backside made the rounds on the internet website. Check out the video below:
Saban was asked by a reporter last night after Alabama pummeled Georgia State, 63-7 about the incident, the 59-year-old talked about how tough college football really is.
“Football’s a tough game for tough people. There is a lot of intensity and there’s a lot of intensity on the sidelines and there’s a lot of intensity at practice. It’s the way it is,” Saban said. “I’m really apologizing for anything I did to be honest with you. A.J. doesn’t have a problem with it and nobody else should have a problem with it. . . . If you don’t like that then I guess you should go watch the Golf Channel. That’s what football is all about.”
